Painting, Racing, & Alligators!

A few things we have been up to since the last post! The main thing that has been keeping us all busy is trying to make way for baby! We decided to transition our office to a guest bedroom/office. The room that was the guest bedroom is now going to be the baby’s room. Since I am not allowed to paint, David had to take over! He managed to paint the office and did a great job, we recruited Ya Ya to paint the baby’s room and she did great too. Thanks Ya Ya! Mackenzie enjoyed helping Daddy paint the new guest bedroom.

In the middle of all of our painting and getting our house in order, David has also been training for a half marathon. David ran his first half marathon the first weekend in June in Hickory, NC. He did a great job and finished in 2:24. Unlike South Carolina, North Carolina is pretty hilly. David was able to get through the hills and looked great coming across the finish line, well with the exception of his bloodied t-shirt from his sensitive teats! Congrats Daddy, we are so proud of you.

Last but not least in the past month we have had a few unlikely visitors wandering down our street. I was able to get a picture of the 2nd or 3rd occurrence. Check him out:

Eventually when we get all of our rooms in order I will post pictures of our handy work. As always, check out the gallery for more pics.

Irons in the Fire!

We have been quite busy since our last post. If the month of May is any indication of how our summer is going to go, then we are going to be quite busy.

For Memorial Day weekend, Mackenzie and I flew to Little Rock to visit family and friends, we had a wonderful time. The only sad part was leaving and not being able to be there when Carolee’s baby was born! Here are a few pictures from our Little Rock trip:

When we got back to Charleston, Mackenzie had a class picnic with her friends at school. We met in her classroom and all of her classmates showed the parents how to do the Macarena. It was hilarious. After the dance, we all walked to the park and had a picnic and played. It was a great time and Mackenzie’s friends were glad to have her back in class.

Yesterday we celebrated Ya Ya’s birthday and had the family over for a wonderful cookout. We had a delicious dinner, the kids played well together, and the weather was awesome.

Today, David is working on painting our old office that we are converting to a guest room/office. The first steps of making room for the baby! Mackenzie wanted to get in on the action, so we let her paint for a few minutes.

This is just a few of the many pictures we have taken over the past few weeks, check them all out here.

Another Princess in the making!

Today we found out that our little baby is a baby GIRL! One of the most comforting parts of our visit is that so far the baby looks healthy. She was asleep during the ultrasound and in the beginning had her legs crossed, after a while she uncrossed her legs and confirmed what her mommy already knew deep down! Here is a pretty good profile picture of her:

On the picture you will see the word “baby”, that is the side of her head. Once you make out the head you can see that she has her mouth slightly open and you can see her little nose. Right next to her mouth, you can see the shape of her arm and her hand. Ultrasound pictures are always hard to make out the image, but this one is a pretty good picture of her.

Other than telling all of our family and friends the great news, my favorite part was telling Mackenzie. This morning, before our appointment, we told Mackenzie that Mommy and Daddy were going to the doctor to find out if the baby was a boy or a girl. We dropped her off at school, went to the doctor, and then went to work. When I picked up Mackenzie from school she was on the playground playing on the swings with her friends. She saw me walk out and immediately came running across the playground screaming “Mommy, Mommy, Mommy!” I knelt down to hug her and she looked at me and said “Mommy, is the baby a girl?” All I could do was hug her and tell her “YES!” She screamed a big yeah in excitement. I honestly didn’t expect her to remember our conversation from this morning. It was one of those moments that was so cool, that it literally leaves you speechless. She was so adorable and her pure raw emotion was so awesome to witness. One of those feelings that feels so good, it literally hurts. What a blessing and how grateful we are!

A wonderful Saturday

Today was one of those days where the whole day was just perfect and so much fun. Mackenzie and I started off the day by going to a birthday party for one of Mackenzie’s classmates, Lily. To our surprise, the same face painting lady that was at the farmer’s market two days ago was at Lily’s party painting faces.

After the face painting, Mackenzie played at the park with all of her friends.

After playing, Mackenzie got her crack at the birthday pinata. She actually grunted a few times while hitting the pinata.

Then it was time for birthday singing and birthday cupcakes. I took a few pictures of Mackenzie singing Happy Birthday to Lily. One thing I noticed is Mackenzie was pretty much the only kid that was REALLY into singing Happy Birthday to Lily, every other three year old could have cared less. For some reason, Mackenzie really enjoys singing a tune here and there.

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you!

After the party, we had worked up an appetite and it was time for lunch. So we headed to Mackenzie’s favorite place for lunch…..Moe’s! After Moe’s, we decided Mackenzie needed a haircut. We wanted to make sure her hair looked good for our upcoming trip to Little Rock!

MEOW!

Tonight Mackenzie and I went with Ya Ya to the Daniel Island farmer’s market. We ended up with fresh local shrimp, stuffed crab, vegetables, and some delicious bread. Mackenzie scored some ice cream and cookies from her Ya Ya. However, her favorite thing from Ya Ya was the kitty cat face painting she got.

As always, check out the gallery for more pictures.

Strawberry Picking!

Julie | April 30, 2009 10:27 pm

Today we checked out of school early and went to the strawberry patch to pick strawberries with Ya Ya. We picked a ton of strawberries and Mackenzie did a great job of picking. The thing she seemed to focus on the most was picking all the BIG strawberries and having them in her bucket. After filling our buckets, Mackenzie played on the jump castles for a few minutes. As we were in line to pay for our strawberries Mackenzie decided to start tasting them. Once she started she didn’t stop, she ate them in the car on the way to Ya Ya’s and had about 10 or so at least. Here are some pictures from our day:

The Ice Cream Man!

Julie | March 10, 2009 8:20 pm

We had just finished dinner when we heard the ice cream man coming up our street. We grabbed a few dollars and ran outside so Mackenzie could flag him down. He had about 20 or so choices, but she decided pretty quick. She chose a Dora popsicle and much to her surprise, Dora had gumball eyes.

February

Julie | March 7, 2009 11:05 pm

We have been so busy that I never got around to making a post last month. The month of February included a lot of exciting things, especially going to Mickey Mouse Playhouse live! David and I took, Mackenzie and Jackson and they both had a blast. Mackenzie got to spend some time with Baby Madison, and also went on a field trip with her class to the South Carolina aquarium. A few pictures below:
